Bi-Rite's wine department offers something for every occasion and budget. Our wines are hand-selected by our in-house buyers, who taste every single wine before deciding whether to carry it. We usually taste ten to twenty wines before finding one to carry! Our wine assortment represents some of the world's great winemaking regions, including:

California: Sonoma, Napa, Central Coast, Sierra foothills, Mendocino
Oregon & Washington
France: Loire, Rhône, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Alsace, Southern France, Champagne
Italy: Piemonte, Alto Adige, Veneto, Sicily, Tuscany, Sardinia
Spain: Rioja, Galicia, Castilla y León, Penedès, Ribera del Duero
Portugal: still and dessert wines
The Southern Hemisphere: Chile, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa
And beyond...Germany, Austria, and Slovenia

In addition to still red and white wines, we also offer sparkling wines, rosés, chilled whites, half bottles, dessert, and fortified wines.

Whenever possible, we support small producers who use sustainable methods; we also buy directly from a number of producers, so you may see the winemakers themselves making a delivery to the store! At the moment, we're buying some great wines directly from these producers:

T-vine
Unti
Fanucchi
Stephen Singer
Roshambo

We also feature a number of biodynamically-produced wines. Biodynamic farming is a system that treats a farm (or vineyard) as a whole living system, and, among other things, makes use of homeopathic techniques and flowers and elemental minerals to fortify the land. It even takes planetary movement into account as an influence on the fertility of plants. Some of our biodynamic winemakers include:

Quivira
Preston
Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet
Robert Sinskey
Movia
Montirius

We love to talk about wine, and we want people to feel comfortable asking us questions. We try to share our wine passion with our customers, without being pretentious. And so that we can be as helpful as possible, we regularly conduct wine tasting seminars with our employees.

We offer a 10% discount on case purchases, and it's ok to mix and match within the case. We will also do special orders for a minimum order of a half case.

Liquor -
In addition to staple liquors, we offer a number of local specialty spirits, such as Anchor Distilling, Germain-Robin, St. George Spirits and Charbay. We also have an excellent selection of single malt scotch and bourbon.

Beer -
Whether you prefer lambics, porters, or pilsners, our beer assortment boasts a number of unique selections. We feature local beers from Marin Brewing Co. and Lagunitas Brewing, as well as from Belgium and beyond. We also have great biodynamically produced hard apple ciders from France.

Josh, our wine buyer, loves to help customers select the perfect wine.
