Our cheese department, small but mighty, features a carefully chosen array of cheeses from California and beyond. Our selection is ever-changing, although we always carry a number of customer favorites. Most of our cheeses are either organic, from small farmhouse cheesemakers, or from producers that focus on sustainability (and sometimes all three).

Bi-Rite's cheese staff is conscientious of the proper care of each cheese, and makes every effort to ensure that cheeses are offered at their peak. Examples of this individualized attention include cutting only as much cheese as is needed (rather than cutting an entire wheel at once), and selecting the most appropriate material for packaging individual slices.

We take pride in our signage, which helps customers choose just the right cheese for their needs. Not only do our signs specify what type of milk is used and where the cheese is made, but we also indicate which cheeses are raw or contain rennet. We also regularly offer samples of select cheeses, making it easy for customers to discover something new.
