PRODUCE

The best tasting produce comes from crops grown by passionate farmers who enrich their land and communities, and that’s who we work with at Bi-Rite. Our produce category manager, Simon Richard, is committed to building relationships with these farmers for the long-term because sourcing directly gives us the opportunity to provide you with the freshest, most delicious fruits and vegetables. In fact, we work directly with more than 50 farms in California every season. You’ll find that the items in Bi-Rite Markets can vary daily, which is because we celebrate fresh fruits and vegetables during the peak of their season. Over 90% of our produce is certified organic, and during the summer months, more than 65% of the produce comes straight from the farms to Bi-Rite’s doorsteps. Want to taste something you see in the Markets? Just ask!

MEAT, POULTRY & SEAFOOD

Bi-Rite’s butcher team focuses on building relationships directly with ranchers who are committed to humane animal husbandry practices and land stewardship. The result is that our products simply taste better. Under the guidance of category manager, Chili Montes, our butchers practice whole animal butchery and use every part in thoughtful, delicious ways, from the staple butcher cuts to our pre-packaged marinated meats. Custom orders and custom cuts are always welcome!

Our seafood focuses on seasonality, sustainability, and transparency. We love to celebrate seasonal Pacific Coast fisheries from Alaska to Mexico. And the aquaculture programs we work with use advancements in feed development and water management to minimize their impact on the environment.

CHEESE

Bi-Rite Market’s cheese selections are guided by taste and relationships. Our category manager for cheese, Brandon Jones, tastes and evaluates every cheese we sell and insists on offering only the best examples for our guests.  His team has invested significant time to build relationships with everyone who touches the cheese – from the farmers and makers, to the importers and distributors. Whether a cheese comes from a secluded valley in the Alps or a local farm in Marin, you can trust that every cheese you purchase was hand selected with purpose.

WINE, BEER & SPIRITS

Bi-Rite Market’s alcohol selections are based on taste, craft, trends, and tradition. Everything is intended to be balanced, food-friendly, and best shared in good company. Our alcohol department managers personally taste everything we sell to ensure we’re offering you the best wine, beer or spirit you can find. Whether it’s a $10 bottle of wine or a $200 scotch, we guarantee it’ll be delicious. We work with small producers around the world who focus on sustainable farming and make wines with little manipulation. Freshness is incredibly important for beer, which is why Bi-Rite focuses on local breweries. Continuing with the emphasis on craft, our spirits come from small batch producers from around the world.

BI-RITE CREAMERY ICE CREAM & BAKED GOODS

At our Creamery and Bakeshop, everything we make is made by hand in small batches, from our daily-churned ice creams to our freshly baked cookies. We keep things simple because we want our incredible ingredients to shine. Owner Kris Hoogerhyde, executive pastry chef JP, and their team are incredibly selective about where those ingredients come from, prioritizing flavor, sustainability, and seasonality. Every day in the Markets you’ll find pints of Bi-Rite Creamery ice cream – from the everyday favorites like Salted Caramel to the seasonal must-haves like Peach Cobbler and Eggnog. There’s also a wide offering of baked goods, like our brownies and Joy of Almond cookies, that highlight our bakers’ skills at crafting perfectly balanced sweets.

FLORAL

Our most frequently photographed department, Bi-Rite’s Floral selection was voted “Best Floral Shop” by SF Weekly in 2018. The floral team is committed to sourcing California’s seasonal, sustainable flowers from farmers who are devoted to the resilience of their local land and communities. We offer California grown flowers year-round and for six months every year, 100% of our selection are brought straight from the farm to our Markets. When the farm direct season is finished, we work closely with growers who sell their own product at the Flower Mart, hand-choosing our selection for seasonality, freshness, and transparency of growing practices. Our one-of-a-kind Bi-Rite bouquets, made in house by the flower team, illustrate our passion for seasonality and attention to detail.
