Stovetop (best for most soups)
Pour the soup into a pot and heat over medium to medium-low.
Stir every minute or two so the bottom doesn’t scorch.
Bring it to a gentle simmer and make sure it’s steaming hot throughout, about 10-12 minutes.
If it’s thickened in the fridge, add a splash of water or broth to loosen it.
Microwave
Transfer the soup to a microwave-safe bowl and cover loosely with a lid or microwave-safe plate to prevent splatters.
Heat on high for 1.5 to 2 minutes for a single bowl, then stir.
Continue in 30 to 60 second bursts, stirring each time, until steaming hot throughout.
Let it sit for a minute before eating, since the edges heat faster than the center.
